Customer Reviews
Great bike for the money
I purchased this bike about two weeks ago. I chose to upgrade the shipping and it got here within about 5 days. It shipped perfectly as far as I can tell. It came basically assembled, chain on, back wheel situated with gearing adjusted. You just have to attach the front tire, brakes, handlebar, fenders, seat and pedals. Be warned, as simple as assembly is, you will fare much better if you take it to an authorized Diamondback dealer to have it assembled for both the warranty's sake and your piece of mind. I'll explain further below.

My bicycling adventures started on a steel cruiser, upgraded to an aluminum cruiser with gears, then to a comfort bike then to a road bike. Before this purchase I had been riding an older road bike modified with flat handlebars. I'm now at the fitness level to want to ride further than my daily commute to work and was looking for a faster road bike that has my comfort and fitness in mind. Many road bikes are designed for speed, not comfort or utility. As a daily commuter who'd like to use the bike for longer trail riding (50 miles, etc) this bike fits the bill perfectly. I went to my friend's local bike shop and checked out other flat bar road bikes. There is nothing like this bike out there right now. There are higher end versions, but not in this price range. I couldn't see spending twice as much for a carbon fork and carbon seat post, though they were lovely to ride.

This bike offers all the amenities of a much more expensive road bike with all the commuter bells and whistles. What I will recommend is that you have a Diamondback retailer put it together. It costs $40 at my friends shop. Worth it. Then go get a tune up a month or two later (depending on how much you ride it). I put mine together myself and really screwed up the brakes. Took it to my friend and discovered I had the handlebars angled wrong and a couple of other things. Nothing major, but things that will definitely affect the feel of the bike. The bike does not come with a kickstand and I suggest you get one. Its a darn nice bike, you don't want to lean it against something that'll scratch it up. They cost maybe $20 and the bike shop can put it on. Obviously I have added a bell and a light for safety but that is about all you need to add. The fenders, seat, back rack and chain guard are great. I replaced the pedals as I do not like the feel of the plastic. Plus, one of the pedals' ball bearings cracked on day 5. Weird, but it can happen. The pedals are pretty easy to switch out, they just screw in and the platform they use is pretty easy to find and there are many inexpensive alternatives. I plan to purchase some panniers for the back rack and some sort of computer to monitor my progress. I'll maybe spend an extra $100 on all my add ons. Incredible.

The bike is fast and responsive. I know they have this tagged as a hybrid, but its really a flat bar roadbike. The geometry of the bike really does feel very different than other road bikes. The angle of the tubes and seat post along with the handle bars put you in a much more comfortable stance. I have much more stand over clearance on this bike than my other road bikes. My boyfriend who rides a vintage Lotus road bike was amazed at how responsive and fast this bike is. And it is incredibly light. When I took it back to my friend's bike shop to have the kickstand added and it basically tuned up, he was impressed. They aren't selling bikes like this in a lot of shops now. They will though soon.

Best of luck with your bike purchase!

Overall, great bike for the money. I plan on continuing my daily commutes and working up to longer road trips. Here here for fitness bikes!
